‘NCIS’ Fans Fear the Worst After Wilmer Valderrama Drops Major Career News
NCIS fans can’t help but be on high alert after season 19 recently featured Gibbs (Mark Harmon) saying a somber goodbye to his team. Now, viewers of the hit CBS drama are wondering if another one of their favorite NCIS characters, Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), is also on his way out.
Given that the special agent has been the most resistant to all the changes happening on the team, it’s not far-fetched to think Torres could be next. What’s more, Deadline reported recently that Wilmer, who has been on NCIS since 2016, has a new show in the works with CBS. Shortly after the Deadline article broke, Wilmer made his own announcement on Instagram about his new family comedy called Mexican Beverly Hills.
“Erick, Aaron, Kaitlin all bases loaded…let’s swing away,” he wrote. “Another victory, for our @officialwventertainment family and I couldn’t be more proud of the heart that goes into everything we develop!”

Upon hearing about Wilmer’s latest project, his fans immediately flooded his comments section to join in on the festivities. “Congrats @wilmervalderrama, this is amazing! 👏✨,” one person wrote. “Sounds like a lot of fun ❤️ Congratulations,” another added. “👏👏👏can’t wait to see this. 👏👏,” a different fan said. “MORE 👏 LATIN 👏 REPRESENTATION 🔥🔥,” a follower commented.
While many were ecstatic for the Miami native, there were others who were worried about what this would mean for Torres’ future. “Wait a minute…..are you leaving NCIS???? 😮,” someone wrote. “Nooo does this mean you are leaving NCIS too?” another said. “Whatever you are working on, it will be great! Just please don’t ever leave NCIS,” a fan commented. “You can’t leave NCIS!!! 😢,” a person added.
But fear not, NCIS fandom. We haven’t heard anything concrete that leads us to believe Wilmer will be departing the show anytime soon. As for his new show, the project will be based on the New York Times personal essay The ‘Mexican Beverly Hills’, by Erick Galindo. The story is about a working-class Mexican American family who moves to the wealthy and primarily Latinx city of Downey in Southeast Los Angeles. According to Deadline, Wilmer is serving as an executive producer for the project under his movie and TV production company WV Entertainment.
