This Celeb-Fave Mask Made Me Look Like a Baby Again

Like many people, my skin has been through it the past two years—think dullness, dryness, and the occasional sudden breakout. While I’m back to getting regular facials, wearing a face covering to most places (I’m in LA, where mask mandates are still super-strict) still messes with my skin every now and then. Enter the Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask.
To be honest, I haven’t always been a huge fan of face masks—but given that this is a favorite among celebs and has a rep for providing “instant youth,” I was down to make an exception. Jennifer Lawrence and Salma Hayek are just two of the long list of celebs who swear by it.
But the A-list stamp of approval isn’t the only reason I was excited to try this formula.I’m a big fan of French beauty products—and given that I’ve gotten my hands on Sisley products in the past, I knew the formula was stacked with heavy-hitting active ingredients. Plus, it feels super-soft off the bat, and even a quick patch test on my hand proved that it was extremely hydrating. Living in LA’s super-dry climate has made my skin in dire need of moisture—so again, cue the ~excitement~.
It’s powered by vitamin E and chlorella, both of which are known for their revitalizing effect. But the eponymous black rose is the real star of the show, smoothing, moisturizing, and nourishing skin. It’s designed to perk up fatigued skin—which sounds kind of vague but, as a result of my not-so-great sleep schedule, I can confirm tends to look dull and lackluster.
Back to the mask: I used a brush to apply it and was able to cover my face with minimal product—a.k.a. you get tons of bang for the proverbial buck. As I mentioned before, I’m not the biggest fan of face masks, the main reason being that I don’t love that tightening sensation that can accompany some formulas. With this one, however, I didn’t feel like my face was being pulled back within five minutes of using it—already a good sign. I could still move my face, but a slight tingle proved that it was doing something. I chilled out while it worked its magic for 10 minutes.
Because it turned out to not feel like hard cement on my face, it was also much easier to clean off (another huge gripe of mine when it comes to face masks). Once I rinsed it off, my skin felt soft and refreshed, and had a visible glow. What impressed me the most, though: The areas around my upper lip and nose tend to be more rough and dry than the rest of my face—and even they felt smooth.
I know that the mask is formulated to have anti-aging benefits—I’ll get back to you on that in a few years—but it’s a solid choice even if only for deeply moisturizing dry skin. And while the price is steep, I found that a little can go a really long way, so a tube will last you for months. Then again…it can be used two to three times per week for optimal results—and you can bet I’m going to keep that up all winter long.
Bottom line? It’s now a part of my regular skincare routine, and coming from a skeptic, that says a lot. Consider me sold.
